Jeff Duke's Biography
Jeff has broad experience covering CMC technical and leadership roles and provides a wide range of consulting, interim and support services to industry. Underpinning this experience is a variety of roles with Pfizer:
Head of Materials Science & Oral Products for Pfizer Pharmaceutical Sciences
Key features of this role included:
- Setting the strategy for development, implementation and wide adoption of materials science to ensure that drug products were developed using API and excipients with optimised material properties. This brief ranged from setting correct polymorph and salt for the API through formulation design and process development right through to transferring process into commercial manufacture
- Setting the strategy for the development of oral products for the patent protected portfolio
- Setting the strategy for development and support of lifecycle products
- Implementing the development of oral products in Asia
- Part of the senior team overseeing all aspects of CMC development for Pfizer's portfolio of new medicines
- Responsibility for personnel & budget in a department of over 150 scientists in the US & UK
Head of Strategy & Co-ordination - Asia Business Development
Working with contract service providers in India and helping design and develop CMC laboratories in India to support Pfizer's new veterinary CMC strategy. Also strategies for development of CMC laboratories in China. This included options for location and recruitment.
Head of the European Analytical R&D Department:
In this role, Jeff had responsibility for a department in the UK & Germany developing and validating analytical methodology for chemical intermediates, API, intermediate and final drug products as well as specification setting and testing for all these materials.
